![]() ![]() I have been able to rather handily fill in the Zentraedi's Table of Organization & Equipment with mecha, vehicles, warships, body armor, small arms, uniforms and rank insignia by either using preproduction designs or spinning off alot of the excess Southern Cross equipment (I'm as big a fan of SDC: SC as I can think of and even I think its preposterous to have 15 separate sets of body armor and small arms each with 3 different types of emitter nozzles). Yes, there will be some 'Ah, I see what the design is inspired by', but that is a world of difference from 'That's from X-series'. Bio-metal is many times lighter and stronger than the best composite laminar that currently armors modern battle tanks.Īnother reason to jettison the direct SDF Macross designs has to do with the fact that there is literally a mountain of designs from The Sentinels, The Shadow Chronicles, Robotech 3000, pre-production Southern Cross & Mospeada, the various comics and the RPG that do not directly step on the toes of Studio Nue's Macross franchise. Humanity can literally grow the spare parts for mecha when you get right down to it. No Alternate Robotech mecha uses ANY terrestrial metal components or parts, but instead utilizes bio-metal, bio-ceramic & bio-polymers. In Alternate Robotech, the ASA-01, ASA-02 & ASA-03 were all repositories of advanced bio-technology. Whatever the OSM or Robotech stated is basically irrelevant if I choose.įor starters, the technological bases of the two universes aren't remotely alike. Just because the VFA-6 Vindicator resembles a modified form of the VFA-6 Alpha (let alone the AFC-01 Legioss) does NOT mean they perform in anything like the same manner. Superficially many resemble the classic designs from Robotech, but their capabilities may or may not reflect what was either animated or (if cataloged) stated. By going with an Alternate Universe I can state, rather plainly, that NONE of the designs I have are actually those that appeared in one incarnation of Robotech or another. I also did so because I'm decidedly tired of all the stupid, pointless and basically retarded debates that occur in fandom vis-a-vis 'Which era has better tech'. I decided I wanted to jettison the direct SDF Macross designs because, frankly, I'm not all that terribly fond of them. Let me say that there are a number of people who have either indirectly or directly inspired this: Rev_Prez (Prez Cannady), Rtsurfer (Craig Sapp), CavScout, Roger Harkavy, Pieter Thomassen, Peter Walker, Stanley Bundy, Mike Kaiba (SetoKaiba), Tom & Dennis Bateman, ShadowLogan and probably a ton of people I'm forgetting. This project began forming in the back of my mind some time ago as a setting for a Robotech game using West End's D6 Open Source. ![]()
